Registration Policies and Procedures
Harambee Summer Camp is for families parenting children of African heritage. Cultural activities and networking are the highlights of the camp. Educational and counseling opportunities are incorporated into the schedule along with daily cultural and family events.
We hope to be able to accommodate most of the applicants each year without having to rely on a waiting list. However, don’t wait to apply. First come, first served for on-site accommodations.

Instructions for Booking Accommodation and Registering for Harambee 2022.
Registration will open at 10:00am on WEDNESDAY MAY 4TH.
This year registration will be done directly on the Sorrento Centre website. You will not require an account with them. https://www.sorrentocentre.ca/
On their main webpage, 1) select Book Now 2) select Register On Line for programs & courses, 3) select Harambee on the pull down menu for Program and begin your accommodation selection.

Please review accommodations as over the past 2 years the centre has upgraded many of their sites! Registration will be first come, first registered.
Programming will be scheduled with arrival starting at 3:00 on Saturday July 2 through to the end of the evening Wednesday July 6. There will be no programming on Thursday or Friday as we encourage families who wish to stay on site to visit friends and families and the Shuswap area. We decided to reduce programming for a few reasons including feedback that families were interested in a shorter week of activities, nervousness around ongoing pandemic impacts to travel and the unknown of what registration will be after a 2-year absence and the impact of increases to all costs associated with running the festival.
Full Program Registration OPENS at 10:00am on WEDNESDAY MAY 4TH.
Registration will remain at the previous cost of $400
Accommodations can be booked for Saturday July 2 (arrival 3:00pm) through Saturday July 9 (departure 10:00am) OR Thursday July 7 (departure 10:00am), cost of accommodations are provided by Sorrento Centre and can be found on their website.
Offsite option is available through the Sorrento centre website
Partial Program Registration OPENS on WEDNESDAY MAY 18TH.
Registration will be $100 per day

A single day
You are welcome to drop in for a single day (not multiple days), a donation would be appreciated to help cover the cost of camp if you are able.
Our current plan for programing is to host a major musical event that will also be open for day pass and single night stays. We will be opening up this optional registration for less than 5 day stays as well as day passes after the full program registration is complete.
